Frequently Asked Questions

2025 Camp Registration opened on Monday, January 6th! You will see all details on the Camp Registration page.  Follow the instructions and fill out the 2025 Camp Registration Form.

  • Hopkins/Golden Valley Camp:  2 week program, Monday, 06/23/2025 to Thursday, 07/03/2025 (sign up for either week or both weeks).  Location: The Blake School  (110 Blake Rd S, Hopkins, MN 55343)
  • Mendota Heights/St. Paul Camp: 1 week program, Monday, 08/04/2025 to Friday, 08/08/2025.  Location: Visitation School (2455 Visitation Dr, Mendota Heights, MN 55120)

The hours for our camp is 9:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. daily,  with Extended Day options (8:30a.m. to 9:30a.m. and/or 3:30 to 4p.m.).  The fee for Extended Day is an additional $70/child (5-Day camp) or $56/child (4-Day camp).

Yes! We are planning one field trip for each camp site.  Due to the shorter schedule during Week 2 at The Hopkins/Blake School Camp, the field trip will likely take place during Week 1 (June 23–27).  Field trip locations will be communicated later.

Camp fee is $310/child (5-Day), $248/child (4-Day) or $558/child (9-Day), field trip & other activity costs all included.  The 9-Day/2-Week program is only offered at our Hopkins/Golden Valley site this year.  There is a $30 Early Bird discount if you sign up by March 1st, plus a $20 additional sibling discount for more than one child from same family.  If your child is currently in the free/reduced lunch program, they can apply for scholarships to join our camp for free (Extended Day fee will NOT be included in scholarship program, only camp fee is covered).

  • There will be different classroom teachers, classmates from different schools, and guest speakers to interact with in Chinese language at the two camps,  all of which will help your child continue to build and grow their language proficiency and intercultural skills.
  • We will read some different books in the literacy block in the morning.  If there is a repeating book in the Visitation camp, we will make sure the teacher knows your child has read it in the Blake camp and challenges them with higher-level questions;
  • Cultural activities will be slightly different. For example, for cooking class, we might cook a different dish, or, cook the same dish but go into the professional kitchen that is available at Visitation Camp.

Yes! Eligible students must be:

  • A Minnesota resident eligible for free or reduced priced lunches (documents from school/district is required)
  • Student whose incoming grades are Kindergarten through 8th in fall 2025
  • Eligibility also depends on remaining funds available

Please read our 2025 Camp Scholarship Policy for more details.

Yes! New kindergarteners are more than welcomed to attend our camps!

New 6th graders will attend our Middle School program (6-8th).

New high schoolers are more than welcomed to join our Camp Counselor Program.  It's a great volunteer opportunity to learn language and culture, foster leadership skills while earning 40-hr weekly service hours certificate and recommendation letters!

We usually group students crossing two grades in elementary level.  For example, if your child's in Grade 2,  they will be either in a G1/G2 mixed age group, or in a G2/G3 mixed age group.  Middle schoolers (6-8th) will be in one group.

For each group, we have one or two teachers, two or three counselors and sometimes adult volunteers.  Our average student-to-adult ratio is around 8:1.

No.  Every camper needs to bring a lunch, a snack and a water bottle on a daily basis.  Some times we will have cooking lessons, in that case all ingredients will be provided and we will share the food (we will contact families for food restrictions beforehand).  If your child(ren)  qualifies for scholarship and you need us to cover lunch/snack, we will communicate with you in person on this matter.

Yes, you need to arrange your own transport for your child(ren).  One exception is that your child(ren) qualifies for a government scholarship and your home address is also on our bus route.  In that case, we will communicate with you and see if we can help arrange transportation for your child(ren).

We As One Camp Refund Policy:
1) Cancel more than 3 weeks before 1st day of camp: 90% refund; 2) Cancel less than 3 weeks before 1st day of camp: 50% refund; 3) No refund once camp starts.  Please be aware that the transaction fee for PayPal or other digital platforms will be deducted from your refund.

Yes! We always welcome parents/guardians to join our program! Please send us an email if you are interested in volunteering at our 2025 camps! (weasonecamp@gmail.com).
